Closing Week Checklist For Selling PEI Real Estate

Seller’s Week Before Closing Checklist

  • Contact your lawyer to ensure they have everything they need to date to ensure a smooth closing.
  • Confirm they received the water test results if applicable
  • Arrange the time to meet to sign the closing documents
  • If you are moving out of the property, review your EXIT Realty PEI Moving Checklist to ensure everything is on schedule
  • Call Maritime Electric 1.800.670.1012 to ensure the Purchasers have called to get the power in their name for closing day
  • Call your oil company to ensure they have the oil tank fill up scheduled for the business day before closing
  • Call your propane company to ensure they have the propane tank fill up scheduled for the business day before closing
  • Double check on all scheduled appointments for service provider disconnect, cleaning services etc.
  • Gather up all keys, garage door openers etc.
  • Plan to be ready for the pre-closing inspection the evening before closing day
  • Ensure you are able to leave the Waste Watch bins empty for closing. A dumpster is often a welcome investment for the week before closing
  • Double check the contract to ensure you have not removed, or will not remove, items included in the sale
  • Double check on availability of service providers for seasonal issues, ex. snow removal / grass cutting for closing day
  • Double check on to ensure there are no items missing from the house, ex. screens for windows and doors, central vacuum attachments etc.
  • Find out from your agent if the new owners will want your mail keys or if they will get Canada Post to change the locks on the mailbox assigned to the property
